Improving usability of Monitis

We are working hard to improve the user experience of our users and today we are announcing the launch of three new features, that we believe will improve your user experience with Monitis. The first new feature lets users export their tests configuration to a CSV file. The exported file contains basic information about user’s tests such as test name, URL, testing locations, test frequency for each location, etc. It also contains maintenance periods and notification rules defined for individual tests as well as those defined for groups of tests. Uptime Monitoring is often the first solution to current downtime or the risk of downtime.  This could be called “Hard Downtime”.  Hard Downtime can be described by no response from the site, server, port, or service.  This type of down time often does not come with hip error pages, or the ever popular “under construction” pages with goofy images of road construction.

The simplicity of server monitoring: Monitis & M3


M3 (Monitis Monitor Manager) framework usage and examples were outlined in a few previous articles:

However we’ve never explained the bits and bytes behind it and what was the initial motivation for implementing it.
This article will outline the motivation, design, implementation and perhaps also the future road map for M3.
Rereading my previous articles I realized that I generated a somewhat steep learning curve for using M3 with the complex examples provided, just because M3 can handle these complex scenarios.
However M3 was created in order to simplify things. I’m going to use an extremely simple example in the following article to explain the way M3 works this time, I promise!
