Monitor Performance from any Location

Monitis offers international systems monitoring network for external monitoring of web applications and services. Most companies are only concerned about their site availability and access from major countries like US, Germany, UK, Australia etc. and they are happy to use the existing monitoring network. Although there are cases when companies may need to measure performance from a very specific location, which could be a partner network, a remote office, a specific ISP network or a particular country.

We have a case when a large company has a worldwide network of partners working on the company extranet application. They complain about the speed of access and application performance. In order to monitor their user experience Monitis software agents could be easily installed right on their partner desktops. Low-footprint agents continuously probe remote services and measure fault and performance of the corporate web server submitting performance data via internet to Monitis Central Server. Monitis Smart Agents use https protocol to go through local firewalls to submit data to the central server. Corporate IT can now monitor performance of their applications from their partners’ point of view using dashboard on the Central Server. Additionally they could also be notified about application, network, VPN, firewall failures and performance degradation and can quickly find the root cause.

Monitis provides agents for Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms.

Since we were receiving many complains regarding bad performance related to viewing data for the previous days, we’re happy to announce that we have made some optimizations to increase the performance of showing that data. These optimizations are in effect starting from January 1st, 2009, which means if you select today any date between today and and January 1st, 2009 you will immediately see the data for that day. So we’re starting the new year with more optimized database:)

What does one monitor means?

One monitor means that you can have one type of test for a single URL or server. So in case of external monitor that means you can have only one check(http, https, IMAP, POP3, etc.) on a single URL. In case you will need to monitor both http and https on a single URL you need to have 2 monitors. The same is true for internal monitors, so 1 monitor is a test of a particular type(Hard Drive, Memory, CPU utilization). In case you need to monitor all of these on a single server you will need to have 3 internal monitors available.

How do we calculate our price?

Posted by Mikayel Vardanyan | Posted in FAQ | Posted on 14-02-2009

The price is calculated based on the number of monitors of each type, number of SMS, sub-accounts, locations from which monitoring should be conducted and check interval. We have 2 plans with predefined values for all the above mentioned and also Build Your Plan option where you can specify each value yourself and the price will be calculated based on that.
